Auto-Focus is built privacy-first. Your activity data stays on your Mac: focus sessions, active apps, browser URL data, settings, and insights are not sent to our server. The app only contacts our server for Plus license validation and update checks. We only collect the minimum information needed to process purchases and manage licenses.
When you buy Auto-Focus+, we collect your email address and name through Stripe to send you your license key. This information is stored on our license server hosted by Hetzner in Germany.
Auto-Focus+ periodically checks your license with our server. The request includes your license key and app version. No focus sessions, app activity, browser URL data, usage patterns, or settings are transmitted.
Auto-Focus periodically checks whether a newer version is available by fetching a small version file from auto-focus.app. This does not include any activity data from the app.
We use self-hosted Plausible Analytics (hosted by Hetzner in Germany) to understand website usage. This data is not linked to purchases or personal information.
All your focus data, settings, and insights are stored locally on your Mac. You can export this data anytime in CSV or JSON format.
Auto-Focus reads your active browser tab URL via macOS Automation to detect focus websites. Matching happens entirely on your Mac. No page content or browsing history is read, and browser URL data is not transmitted to our server.
The macOS app source code is public so you can verify what Auto-Focus monitors, stores, and sends. See the Auto-Focus source code on GitHub.
Our license server uses industry-standard encryption and is hosted by Hetzner in Germany, subject to strict European data protection laws.
Payment processing is handled by Stripe. Stripe Checkout is only loaded when you choose to start a purchase. At that point, Stripe may use cookies or similar technologies for payment processing and fraud prevention. See Stripe's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle payment data.
Our website uses unpkg.com for Tailwind CSS. We load js.stripe.com only when you initiate checkout. These services may log IP addresses for security purposes.
Browser URL tracking uses macOS Automation (AppleScript) to read the active tab URL. This requires your explicit permission, granted per browser through System Settings.
You can request deletion of your purchase information or license data by emailing [email protected]. Since the app stores data locally, you control all your focus and productivity data.
